Sudden Valley Cup - New for 2008 Season
The Sudden Valley Cup is a season-long competition for Sudden Valley Golf Club members, based on the same premise as the FedEx Cup on the PGA tour. The goals of the Sudden Valley Cup is to encourage play by the members in events sponsored by the Golf Club, and to generate some more fun and interest during the golf season. Events sponsored by the Golf Club will be used for the Sudden Valley Cup. Events sponsored by the Men's Club or Ladies Club (e.g., Invitationals) are not part of the Sudden Valley Cup competition. These 9 events constitute the Sudden Valley Cup:
- Opening Day Scramble (5 April)
- Sudden Valley Open Tournament (26 April)
- 18-Hole Four-Ball Tournament (17 May)
- Individual 36-Hole Stroke Play (14/15 June)
- Bucks & Does Open Tournament (12 July)
- Mid-Summer Best Ball Tournament (26/27 July)
- Stafford Cup (2 August)
- Team Tip & Tuck Tournament (6 September)
- Fall Wind-Up Mixed Shamble (11 October)
Separate competition/standings for men and ladies. Individual trophies awarded to the two winners at the Fall Windup Banquet. Points are awarded based on:
- Playing in an event: 50 points
- Finishing in the money (gross & net): 30 points
- Winning the event (gross & net): 30 points
Note that any member who plays in all of the above 11 events will earn at least 450 points.
For team competitions, every member of the team (whether 2 or 4 players) gets the points available. For example, a 4-member team will win the Opening Day Scramble. Each member of that team will get 110 points toward the Sudden Valley Cup. Points and standings will be maintained by the Golf Club. After each Sudden Valley Cup event, new standings will be posted in the locker rooms and on this website.
